Choose the class that is right for you
All Levels- From Novice to proficient students
All levels classes are for students with little or no yoga experience, up to seasoned yogis. These students are expected to be in normal health with no limiting injuries and are able to get up and down from the floor without assistance. Anyone not meeting this criteria is recommended to attend a CHAIR YOGA series.
All levels classes will teach basic, foundational hatha yoga postures, may include some sun salutations, as well as strengthening and postural alignment necessary to advance to the Advanced classes. Modifications will be offered via teacher suggestion in these classes.
Advanced classes are for students who have a consistent, weekly yoga practice. These students are expected to be in normal health with no limiting injuries and able to modify postures as necessary without guidance. Advanced students should be able to complete several rounds of sun salutation - surya namaskar - with no difficulty.
Advanced classes usually include “challenge” postures such as arm balances and inversions (modifications are welcome, but will not always be taught).
Advanced -
Proficient Yoga STUDENTS
Therapeutic Yoga is taught on Thursdays at 6pm by Licensed Physical Therapist, Chris Logue, exclusively. This yoga class combines yoga with various exercises one might do in a physical therapy setting for a multitude of reasons. This is not a Physical Therapy session however, and it cannot be tailored to one individual student. We ask that you save any questions you might have regarding your personal injuries/issues for your actual PT. Students are expected to be in normal health with no limiting injuries and are able to get up and down from the floor without assistance.
Therapeutic yoga
We aim to teach a variety of class styles at Element Yoga, including classes outside the general scope of “hatha yoga”. These classes include yin and restorative, as well as special yoga nidra offerings, and even chair yoga. Most if not all of the classes will be practiced while seated or reclining on the floor (unless the class is a combination of styles, ie. Flow to Restore).
All students that are in good health and have no limiting injuries are welcome to attend these classes. Chair yoga may be appropriate for those who cannot easily get themselves up and down off the floor, however it is still required that you be in good health and that you have been released by a doctor if you have had any recent injuries, surgeries, etc. We do have steps in front of the studio entrance that must be climbed in order to get into the studio space itself.
